A Talker Research survey of 2,000 Americans found 63% feel “doomed” if they run out of butter during holiday cooking. Households use five sticks of butter per winter holiday compared to two sticks weekly year-round. The survey revealed mashed potatoes (79%) and dinner rolls (77%) as dishes where butter is most critical. Other top butter uses include corn (72%), cornbread (62%), sweet potatoes (52%) and stuffing (34%). Seventy-two percent call butter one of their favorite ingredients, while 61% say they “literally cannot live without butter.” Most respondents (70%) would make store trips specifically for butter, with 58% admitting they’ve done emergency butter runs during past holidays. Americans average three last-minute grocery trips during holiday seasons for essential ingredients. (Story URL)
