Landscapers emerged as the fittest tradespeople in a study of 1,000 workers, scoring 34 points based on fitness factors. They walk more daily steps than other trades at 12,274 and exercise longest outside work at 114 minutes weekly. Plumbers ranked second with 32 points, with 80% considering themselves fit. Carpenters placed third at 25 points, averaging 10,995 steps and lifting 16 heavy items daily. Painters and decorators scored lowest at 13 points. Bricklayers lift the most heavy items at 26 per day but ranked fifth overall. The research shows 88% view their work as physically demanding, while 77% enjoy the physical aspects.
