A new global survey shows that most employees cannot tell the difference between phishing emails written by artificial intelligence and genuine messages. The study by Talker Research for Yubico surveyed 18,000 workers across nine countries. Only 46% correctly identified an AI-generated phishing email, while 54% mistook it for a real message or were unsure. Generational differences were minimal, with Gen Z at 45%, millennials at 47%, and both Gen X and baby boomers at 46%. Nearly half of respondents (44%) said they had interacted with a phishing message in the past year. Ronnie Manning of Yubico urged individuals and companies to use multi-factor authentication and stronger security tools to reduce risks in an increasingly AI-driven digital environment.
