A large study has found no connection between animal protein consumption and higher mortality risk. In fact, greater animal protein intake may even help lower cancer deaths. Analyzing data from nearly 16,000 U.S. adults, researchers examined relationships between participants’ animal and plant protein consumption and their risk of dying from cancer, heart disease, or any cause. Advanced statistical methods were used to estimate long-term dietary intake and minimize measurement errors. The results revealed no elevated mortality risk from greater animal protein consumption. Instead, the data pointed to a small but meaningful reduction in cancer-related deaths among those who ate more animal protein. Plant protein had minimal impact on cancer mortality. While observational studies cannot prove causation, the findings align with clinical research supporting animal proteins in healthy diets. (SciTechDaily)
