A new Ipsos survey for French streaming service Deezer reveals 97% of 9,000 participants across eight countries failed to identify which music was created by artificial intelligence versus humans. More than half felt uneasy about their inability to distinguish between the two. The study found 51% worry AI will flood streaming platforms with low-quality content, while nearly two-thirds fear it could harm industry creativity. Deezer reports AI-generated tracks jumped from 10% of daily streams in January to one-third today. Billboard’s current top country song “Walk My Walk” by Breaking Rust features an AI-generated artist. Despite growing demand, 40% of respondents said they would avoid AI music entirely. Four in five want clear AI labeling, though only Deezer systematically labels such content. (Story URL)
