A new study of 2,000 parents with children ages 0-6 shows kids have fascinating curiosities, from catching bugs and building homes for them to obsessing over door stoppers and elevator buttons. Parents answer 46 questions daily from their curious children, lacking answers 35% of the time. Strange questions include “If time had a smell, what would it smell like?” and “Where do dreams go when we wake up?” Nearly all parents (97%) say encouraging natural curiosity is important, yet they say “be careful” 27 times daily and “don’t touch that” 25 times. Most parents (97%) want children to understand safety warnings. Today’s parents favor explaining over the traditional “because I said so” response their generation heard. (Story URL)
