American adult obesity rates have fallen to 37% in 2025, down from a record high of 39.9% in 2022, according to new Gallup survey data. The decline represents “an estimated 7.6 million fewer obese adults compared with three years ago,” researchers found after surveying 16,946 U.S. adults in the first three quarters of 2025. Meanwhile, GLP-1 weight loss drug usage has more than doubled, rising from 5.8% in February 2024 to 12.4% currently. These medications include semaglutides like Ozempic and Wegovy. The biggest obesity reductions occurred among adults aged 40 to 49 and 50 to 64, the same groups with highest GLP-1 usage rates. (Story URL)
