Many Americans hire professional tax preparers before turning 30, according to a new survey of 2,000 U.S. taxpayers. By age 29, more than one-third of Americans let professionals handle their taxes. The study found people seek help when they start investing money or lack time to prepare returns themselves. Major life events like marriage and home purchases also drive the shift to professional services. Sixty-nine percent choose professionals for their expertise, while 41% hope for larger refunds. Nearly half of self-employed respondents consulted tax preparers about business finances. Meanwhile, 63% say they still file their taxes themselves. (Story URL)
