Research involving 500 adults aged 50 and above reveals a role reversal occurs at age 48, when children provide more support than they receive from parents. The study found 54% feel they have swapped places with their parents, helping with driving, shopping and financial management. Four in 10 describe themselves as caregivers rather than children. Parents are typically 73 when this transition happens, needing help understanding official documents (54%) and digital devices (47%). General aging drives the change for 57% of cases, while 25% cite parental forgetfulness. Adult children check on parents three times weekly by phone and visit twice. The OnePoll research found 94% consider keeping parents in their own homes important, with 84% already doing so. (Story URL)
