Over 5% of people have used the password “password” to protect their accounts. The new survey found that 78% of 2,000 adults admitted to using the same or similar passwords across multiple sites. While 7% used “password1,” other common options included basic number combinations like “123456” and “123456789.” Despite the growing threat of cyber scams, 60% of adults still use weak passwords, with 45% clinging to familiar combinations and 11% believing there’s no issue with predictable choices. The research, commissioned by Virgin Media O2, highlights how easily cybercriminals can access personal data with minimal information. Older generations, however, appear more vigilant, with just 20% of Boomers using easy-to-guess passwords compared to 43% of Gen Zs. (Talking Points)
